George Pendergast is a legendary drummer, songwriter, and music educator, best known as a founding member of the multi-platinum alternative rock band Dishwalla. George played a pivotal role in the band's rise to international fame, most notably through the 1996 hit "Counting Blue Cars," which earned a Billboard Award for Rock Song of the Year. His powerful and nuanced drumming style has been a cornerstone of the Dishwalla sound across several critically acclaimed albums.
Beyond his career as a performer, George is a dedicated mentor to the next generation of musicians. He is the founder of Rockshop Academy, a non-profit music program that provides aspiring young artists with hands-on training in performance, songwriting, and the technical aspects of the music business. His commitment to the Santa Barbara music community through the Academy has made him a respected figure in music education.
Currently, George is focusing on his latest musical project, the single "You'll Find Me." This release continues his legacy of blending classic rock sensibilities with modern production.
Rockshop Academy provides a crash course on playing with a band and what it takes to navigate the music industry. Dedicated to fostering the next generation of aspiring Santa Barbara area musicians, Rockshop Academy is open to all musicians age 17 and under.
Year-round home school and after school sessions, and weeklong summer camps are led by our Rockshop Academy Pros — veterans of popular rock groups who have signed record deals and toured the globe!
Rockshop Academy is one of Santa Barbara's top programs for kids and beginners. Students learn to play all styles of music songs (classic rock, country, punk, alternative etc.) that have been simplified for beginner musicians. Additionally, we instruct helping students learn the concepts and skills behind their performance songs.
RA also caters to the more advanced providing lessons with songs and parts that are tailored to them based on their age, experience and ability to learn new skills and concepts.

Beyond his work with Dishwalla and The Penfifteen Club, George is building a solo catalog that blends classic rock with modern production.
His recent single "You'll Find Me" (out now) marks the start of his solo output—driven, melodic rock with the same energy that defined his playing for decades. More solo releases are on the way.
George Pendergast is the drummer for Dishwalla, the platinum-selling, award-winning rock band with a career spanning over 25 years.
Dishwalla has released 5 critically acclaimed studio albums and their edgy, yet melodic, signature sound became part of the soundtrack of a generation. The band features Rodney Browning Cravens on guitar, Scot Alexander on bass, George Pendergast on drums, Jim Wood on keyboards, and Justin Fox as lead vocalist.
